Planetside Lust

Hey guys,

I used to be part of KAAOS back in 2005 in Planetside. I recently resubscribed due to one of their promotions to rope old players in and

#1 They merged the servers and battles are HUGE now. ( 3 front on any given night)

#2 The game has never been so balanced as it is now

#3 New hacking certs, new vehicles, new weapons, new possibilities for tactics and strategy

But aside from that. I'd like to make a plea to have KAAOS to open up a division in Planetside. I've talked to many cr5s and members of Dark Skies (if anyone remembers them) and they are craving the old days of KAAOS. There are even whispers on cr5 chat that KAAOS might return, people msg me and ask if I know anything about KAAOS coming back on a daily basis.

The need for real tactics has returned to the game.

One of the Officers from DS, Hobbs, is very interested in helping to get organized along with myself.

We aren't asking for you guys to leave WoW but only to expand and let me and Hobbs use the name and the TS server. I can even chip in for the TS costs.

Give us a chance and you won't regret it.

Also, incase you're interested here are some videos I made of KAAOS back in the day (drum up some nostalgia)

HAIL, KAAOS. PlanetSide is still alive and has changed for the better. Many people are wishing to have KAAOS return. ever since the server merge people keep saying that now the servers have merge KAAOS might return. If this is true I would like to aid in bringing you guys back.

I have been playing PS since Beta. I am a member of Dark Skyes currently but Dark Skyes is dieing. We had a recover but then most of the officer left AGAIN to start a new outfit. Just like Vengence left DS. I am the only officer left in Dark Skyes that the recuits follow and mind....but the others are just trying to ruin shit.

Dark Skyes have turned into chickin shit ZERG. KAAOS remains unchange title because most members left and save the name into the History books but, people have been talking and been trying to get KAAOS to return. The TR await the Great Return of the KAAOS Elite soldiers.

In last note I also wish to roll with you on other games if possible

This thread is full of WIN! I do miss PlanetSide, had come good times in that game. It's really too bad that SOE fucked it up so bad.

Well, KAAOS has decided to hit the pause button in WoW until the next expansion comes out. I can't guarantee KAAOS will come back to PlanetSide though, so don't get your hopes up. A lot of people have moved onto Age of Conan, but at the same time a few people have been waiting around to see if the server merge would bring new life to PlanetSide as well, so you may see some familar names drop in, and check it out. As far as letting you, and Hobbs use the KAAOS tag ... well we don't just hand that over to anyone. If KAAOS is going to play PlanetSide again, a full KAAOSer will need to be there to lead the troops. TeamSpeak on the other hand, you are welcome to sign onto anytime, and use to game with KAAOSers if you like.

Like I said, currently KAAOS is playing Age of Conan, and you are welcome to join up if you like, head over here, fill out an application, and we'll get you in. We are currently playing on the Deathwisper server, which is free for all PvP.

Thanks, I hope for the best. Have you guys been told about the new hacking certs?? this really changed PS or the nurf BFR


I would want to join you on AoC....just need to get my ass a job to buy it. Goning to have it soon. About the application where do I sign up for it??

Nope don't think so, fill us in. What are the new certs? Or better yet, fill us in on all the new details, new certs, vehicles, weapons, all that good stuff.

Hacking has been bumped up big time. Yeah still adv hacker but now you can go more in depth hacking. Got expert hacker where a CC can be hack in 15 seconds flat and the new T-REK which put viruses into equipment. like spitfire, motion censors, even are Prowler tanks. Now an Expert hacker can hack you Veh when you are sleeping in the driver seat!!! Also bases can have mult Viruses. Some are radar virus which block you mini map radar and open all doors and many more...

Also the BFR have been nerfed. You can get under a BFR and take it out in few deci shots. BFR are not super tanks any more

BFRs being nurfed even more than that is not something that will bring people back, IMO.

As for the game itself- having left and come back several times, the bugs were a big turnoff every time, and I highly doubt SOE has done anything to improve them.

Also, on the topic of 3 ways, thats EXACTLY the kind of battle that will not bring people back. Having one full continent at all times with three massive zergs beating their faces into each other doesn't exactly sound very appealing. Gone are the days when sending a force to one continent could tip the scales on another.

I will say that the virus thing does sound kind of interesting, however that is just one game mechanic that when put up against all the other negatives doesn't quite live up.

Sorry fellas, but I honestly don't believe another return of KAAOS Planetside is possible, and if it is, it will be by very few people and therefore short lived.

Nah not really three ways any more with the merge. Fighting on three cont more like it. and caves usually always full too. with POP locks everyday. Merge is not too bad and bugs have been fix and HACKORZ have been hit hard. Only thing to deal with is the NC CHINA

All the updates that might be of interest within the last year:

Expert Hacking

Hack and jack faster than ever before!
Jack occupied vehicles, booting all passengers.
Increase pain field damage in nearby spawn rooms.
Increase generator pain field damage.
Steal enemy field turrets instead of just deconstructing them.
Upgrade the Aegis Shield Generator with enhanced radar abilities.
Have increased sensor shield protection while hacking.
Remove viruses from infected equipment.


Data Corruption

Access a new equippable support item, the T-REK!
Infect vehicles' control systems, resulting in decreased speed and turn rate.
Install a virus into a facility's Main Terminal for a variety of effects:
Unlock all doors
Double NTU resource drain
Access all equipment terminals
Disable enemy radar
Disable linked benefits
Infect Wall Turrets and Spitfires so they will attack their own empire.
Infect Motion Sensors so they will display friendly units as enemies on radar.
Infect an Aegis Shield Generator to emit a pain field that damages friendly units.
When a facility's Main Terminal is infected, the virus will immediately take effect. However, aside from noticing the effects of the virus, other empires will not be able to discern the type of virus installed, and won't be directly notified that the virus exists for a short time after installation.

Also introducing a new deployable object, the Sensor Disruptor:
Usable by certing Combat Engineering and Advanced Hacking.
Alternate use of the Motion Sensor firemode; use the change ammo key to access the Sensor Disruptor.
Completely masks nearby friendly units from enemy radar, even when detected by sensors.
Can be deployed in any SOI, but only outside and not too close to a building.
Shares deployable limit with Motion Sensors.


Phantasm

The Phantasm is a flying transport vehicle that can carry a pilot and up to four passengers.
The pilot has access to a cloaking mechanism that will make the Phantasm virtually invisible.
While cloaked, the Phantasm will be undetectable by all radar systems. However, moving at high speeds may compromise its stealth.
The Phantasm is only available at bases with a link to a Tech Plant (or at your sanctuary).


Galaxy Gunship

The Galaxy Gunship is a large craft similar to the Galaxy.
It carries a pilot and 5 gunners.
The wing guns and tail gun are rotary 35mm chainguns, and the two front GroundPounders fire explosive mortar cartridges (similar to the Marauder).
The gunship is only available at Dropship Centers (or at your sanctuary).


*** Highlights ***

Combat Engineers all across Auraxis can choose to certify in Fortification, Assault, or Advanced Engineering to unleash a deadly new arsenal of weaponry upon their enemies!

*** Certifications ***
Fortification Engineering is a defensive minded certification for Combat Engineers.
Assault is an offensive minded certification for Combat Engineers.
Advanced Engineering is an all in one certification that includes both Fortification and Assault Engineering!

*** Weapons ***
The FDU can now generate the following weaponry if properly certified.

Aegis Shield Generator
One Manned Field Turrets
Tactical Resonance Area Protection (TRAP)

An ACE can now generate the following weaponry if properly certified.
Shadow Turret
Cerberus Turret
Disrupter Mine

The Upgrade Canister can now generate the following weaponry if properly certified.
Wall Turret AV upgrade
Wall Turret AA upgrade

*** Fortification Engineer ***
Fortification Engineering requires Engineering and Combat Engineering as a pre-requisite. Fortification Engineering costs 3 Certification points.

In addition to the Engineering and Combat Engineering abilities a Fortification Engineers can deploy Shadow and Cerberus turrets, TRAPS, Upgrade Wall Turrets using the Upgrade Canister, and upgrade the Aegis Shield Generator.

Fortification Engineers can now use up to 15 Spitfire Turrets!
Shadow and Cerberus Turrets count towards the 15 Spitfire Turret cap and are limited to a maximum of 5 total (not each).
Fortification Engineers can now deploy up to 25 Mines!
A certified Fortification Engineer can now deploy 25 Motion Sensors!

*** Assault Engineer ***
Assault Engineering requires Engineering and Combat Engineering as a pre-requisite. Assault Engineering costs 3 Certification points.
In addition to the Engineering and Combat Engineering abilities an Assault Engineer can deploy an Aegis shield, One Manned Field Turrets, Disrupter Mines, and upgrade the Aegis Shield Generator!
Assault Engineers can now deploy standard Spitfire Turrets within an Enemy SOI!

*** Advanced Engineer ***
Advanced Engineering requires Engineering and Combat Engineering as a pre-requisite. Advanced Engineering costs 5 Certification points.
In addition to the Engineering and Combat Engineering abilities an Advanced Engineer gains the abilities of an Assault and Fortification Engineer. This would be your all in one cert!

*** ACE ***
In order to deploy the new Spitfire deployables, Fortification Engineers can now switch ammo type using the "X" button.
In order to deploy the new Mine deployables, Assault Engineers can now switch ammo type using the "X" button.

*** Aegis Shield Generator ***
Aegis Shield generators can be upgraded using the Nano-Dispenser only if the Aegis Shield Generator is at full health.

*** One Manned Field Turrets ***
Terran Repulic soldiers can now deploy the Avenger Field Turret to unleash a brutal stream of chaingun fire!
New Conglomerate soldiers can now deploy the Osprey Field Turret to obliterate any enemies in it's sights!

Vanu Sovereignty soldiers can now deploy the Orion Field Turret which fires deadly energy particles at it's enemies!

*** Upgrade Canisters ***
Using a Nano Dispenser, Fortification Engineers can use the "X" button to switch to the Upgrade Canister cartridge. Turrets need to be fairly healthy in order to upgrade them so be sure to fix them up before attempting an upgrade!
The lighting bug inside bases was also fixed amongst other things and if you're character is more than 5 years old you get rexo without having to cert it. There's also a couple of guns they added but they are generally useless so I didn't bother finding the patch notes for those.

At this point if there was enough interest to get 1-2 squads running at a time I would probably resub, any less and we'd probably be doing the same people can do solo which I am pretty burnt out of.
